Safety in bitHuman Live
Our characters are AI, and your safety comes first. Here's how they help in a crisis, and how to tell us when something feels off.
Last updated: October 2026
Every character is AI
The app tells you characters are AI before your first call. They can get things wrong, and they're not for professional advice or emergencies.
If you're in crisis
If you mention suicide, self-harm or being in danger, the character steps out of character and points you to help:
- In the US, call or text 988 (the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), any time.
- If you're in danger right now, call 911.
The app may also show a crisis card with one tap to call or text 988, and a reminder to call 911 if you're in danger.
Characters are told never to encourage self-harm, suicide or violence.
Report a reply
Press and hold the character's words, then tap Report this reply (or Account › Report a problem). We'll see the reply and the line before it, and take a look. More in Support.
For ages 13 and up
bitHuman Live is for people 13 and older. The app asks your age before your first call, and accounts of anyone younger are deleted.
